140 years ago today the three-day battle of Gettysburg ended, leaving
over
50,000 dead and wounded Americans on the fields, and roads, in the
college,
the seminary, the homes and hills and forests around the town.

i turned right to the commentary page and started reading in the middle of a column printed there - and for a moment assumed they were talking about Bush II... ha! it was a reprint of the original DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE! what a comparison, the evil king vs. the Bush empire. what a world to live in.
