  • 140 years ago today the three-day battle of Gettysburg ended, leaving
    over
    50,000 dead and wounded Americans on the fields, and roads, in the
    college,
    the seminary, the homes and hills and forests around the town.

    that this nation under God shall have a new birth of freedom, and that
    government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not
    perish

  • i turned right to the commentary page and started reading in the middle of a column printed there - and for a moment assumed they were talking about Bush II... ha! it was a reprint of the original DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE! what a comparison, the evil king vs. the Bush empire. what a world to live in.
